More About Hardwood

Hardwood flooring is the traditional hallmark for taste, style, and performance. Prized for its natural beauty and lasting durability, hardwood in the home makes a rich visual statement but keeps cleanup a breeze. That’s why hardwood floors are the perfect combination of strength and style for homes with both children and pets. Today’s wide variety of colors, textures, species, and styles make it easy to find the perfect choice for your home.

ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOORING
Made from real hardwood, the cross-ply construction of Mohawk’s engineered wood flooring resists expansion and contraction from humidity changes. Engineered hardwood floors can be installed below, on or above grade.

SOLID WOOD FLOORING
Each plank is a solid piece of wood from the finest domestic and exotic hardwoods. Hardwood floors are best installed on or above grade.

The Benefits of Laminate Flooring

Our selection of laminate flooring, available in hardwood and stone looks, adds sophisticated style to your home for less. Laminate wood flooring is easy to install, easy to clean, and easy to maintain, making it a great choice for the way you live—and for your budget.
Even better, laminate is an environmentally friendly flooring option, often made with recycled materials and requiring no harvesting of rare trees. Laminate floors are exceptionally durable and resistant to both staining and fading, providing worry-free assurance that the floor you love won’t lose its looks.

Shades of Pale

Airy white washes and gentle greys are the new neutral palette in hardwoods. A pale, antiqued floor can softly brighten a smaller room and add an open, airy feel.

Broad, Stately Boards

Wide planks inspired by 19th-century homes are making a 21st-century statement. Try planks at least 5 inches wide to enhance the natural beauty of any wood type.

Texture Is Trending

Renewed interest in artisan and vintage styles is putting textured hardwoods in the spotlight. Hand-scraped and wire-brushed surfaces are on the rise, along with authentically aged and weathered driftwood looks.

Honey Tones

Warm, golden hues have the floor when it comes to natural colors. Honey-toned flooring and furnishings are a great way to balance the coolness of industrial or sleek modern interiors.

Natural Elements

Green living and conservation have turned the interior focus on reclaimed wood, natural materials, and recycled items—from tree stump stools to repurposed planks from older buildings.

Benefits of Hardwood

Wood floors offer unrivaled warmth, beauty, and value. Hardwoods enhance the look of any room and lay the foundation for everlasting elegance that continues to increase in value throughout the years. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, in a national survey of real estate agents, 90 percent said that houses with wood flooring sell faster and for higher prices than houses without wood floors.

Wood is a naturally renewable, recyclable resource that is ecologically friendly. Many leading health associations agree that because wood does not collect dust and other allergens, it is the perfect choice for a healthy home. Wood floors have come a long way over the years. Today there are more colors, styles, and species available than ever before. You’re sure to find the perfect flooring product to match your décor.

Advantages of Engineered Hardwoods

Engineered wood floors are the perfect choice for homes constructed on concrete slabs, or homes located in tropical or very dry regions. The main advantage of engineered wood floors is their ability to be installed on, above, or below grade, with nails or staples, adhesive, or floating.
Provided the existing floor is smooth and flat, engineered wood floors can be installed over most hard surface flooring or sub-floors including; concrete, terrazzo, marble, plywood, OSB, existing vinyl, vinyl tile, or ceramic tile floors. Engineered wood flooring is stronger and more stable than solid wood flooring.

The plywood backing on engineered wood floors prevents cupping due to moisture conditions and minimizes gaps due to seasonal changes. Some believe engineered wood floors are a compromise for solid wood, however; it has been proven that with proper care and maintenance, engineered flooring will last as long as a solid wood floor.

Advantages of Laminate

There are three main laminate flooring benefits: cost, ease of installation, and durability. The ability to add a smart, sophisticated look to any room at a price far less than that of real wood is laminate’s biggest benefit. This flooring option is a low maintenance value that will last for years and look as impeccable tomorrow as it does today. Did you know that laminate flooring is approximately fifteen times stronger than hardwood flooring? High-traffic areas won’t show their wear on laminate as they may on other flooring options. Laminate is exceptionally wearing, stain, fade, burn, dent and scratch-resistant. Eastern Laminate’s floating installation method “Linc-n-Loc,” makes DIY projects a snap. Easy-to-follow instructions promise a hassle-free flooring experience.

True Hand-Scraping by Artisans

Lots of hardwood flooring brands these days deceptively claim their products are “hand-scraped” when they’re actually scraped by lightly-trained workers using machines. A discerning consumer can easily tell the difference.

You’ve probably seen this “fake” look on mediocre reproduction furniture: the monotonous patterns and machine-made appearance of the scraping and grooves. It’s worse on a hardwood floor, where the broad expanse makes the repetition even more obvious, and over time, tiresome to the eye. What might be acceptable to you when you look at a few boards in a store might not be when it’s spread across your living room.

Bella Cera flooring artisans have been personally trained by a nationally-renowned hardwood flooring master to “read” each piece of wood, determining its one-of-a-kind personality, and then to choose the right tools and techniques to fully bring out this character. Bella Cera flooring craftsmen are highly skilled at adding natural-looking chatter marks, antique wear and tear, distressing, scraping, worm holes and more, in different areas of each board, without repetition of patterns, depths, etc.

There are no machines, no assembly lines, no large quantities being pushed through quickly to save time and money. Each flooring plank is individually inspected for its unique patterns, grain and colorations, and hand-carved and scraped to complement its beautiful marks of individuality. No two floor boards are the same!

When in a flooring store, please compare our true hand-scraped hardwood flooring to typical machine-scraped hardwood flooring. The difference is obvious!

Bella Cera Floor Finish

The finish of fine wood flooring is critically important to both its appearance and maintainability. It should protect the wood floor while preserving the fine details of its character: its grain, patterns and subtle colorations, which you will grow to love over time. A mediocre floor finish will cloud these subtle yet beautiful details.

Bella Cera partnered with Valspar, a world leader in the aluminum oxide based floor finish business, to develop our unique dual-stain, aluminum oxide based wood floor finishes. Finishes protect the hardwood floor without compromising its beauty-or the environment.

  • Intense, crystal clarity that won’t go yellow over time, as some finishes will
  • Excellent hardness for superb protection
  • Enhanced UV protection to protect against sun-bleaching of your hardwood floor
  • Environmentally friendly: HAPs-free and zero VOCs making it one of the greenest finishes on the market

When in a flooring store, please compare a Bella Cera floor finish to that of our competitors. Our super-clear coat enhances the look of the grain, and shows off every nuance of color, pattern and texture. In contrast, other brands’ flooring often has a milky layer resulting from inexpensive hardeners, clouding their finishes and diminishing the appearance of the grain.

When in a flooring store, please compare our true hand-scraped hardwood flooring to typical machine-scraped hardwood flooring. The difference is obvious!

Bella Cera Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Engineered hardwood floors look and feel exactly the same as solid wood floors, but they are more beautiful and far more flexible, especially for DIY installations. So for most homes, engineered hardwood is the better choice and greener choice.

Engineered hardwood flooring is more beautiful because it allows for wider and variable width planks such as the 4″/6″/8″ planks of our Reserve Collection series. Solid planks can suffer from expansion and contraction in changing seasons, leaving unsightly gaps and cracks, as well as “cupping” from moisture and shrinkage over a long period of time.

Engineered flooring is composed of seven cross-stacked layers which make it more resistant to humidity and moisture, unlike a strip of solid wood, which can bend or bow, as can happen with longer solid planks.

Engineered hardwood is more flexible in application as well, allowing it to be installed on any grade level. This means it can be floated, glued down directly on a concrete slab, even nailed or stapled to a wood sub-floor in any room of any home.

Bella Cera Variable-Width Flooring

Today’s most talented designers are exploiting the gorgeous possibilities of mixing hardwood flooring planks in variable widths. It’s all the rage amongst trendy decorators and homeowners!

Our variable-width flooring allows you to mix wood planks of 4, 5 and 6 inches together to create a stunningly stylish look.

To complement the scale of your rooms, you can emphasize the 5-inch and 6-inch planks in larger rooms, and 4-inch and 5-inch planks in smaller ones. Or use your creativity to really mix it up!

You can take advantage of the variable widths to play up architectural features of a room, such as a bay window, door, alcove or fireplace.

And, you can use them with modern wall colors, drapes, throws and furnishings to create a “modern eclectic” look. With variable-width flooring, you can let your creativity be your guide.

Bella Cera Hardwood Floors

The term “distressed hardwood floors” refers to the process of deliberately distressing hardwood floor planks to achieve an antique look. Our trained artisans “read” each piece of wood to determine its individual personality, and then choose the right tools and techniques to fully bring out this character.

Using more than 30 specialty wood-making tools, Bella Cera flooring craftsmen are highly skilled at adding natural-looking character to our hardwoods. This includes chatter marks, antique wear and tear to the edges and ends and wormholes to create the perfect antique-looking distressed hardwood flooring. No machines, no assembly lines! The difference is obvious!
